Bill,
You hit a home run with our board of directors last week. The hours we spent together will go a long way toward giving us a common language and a common understanding of how our board should function and how it can be improved over time.
Several board members expressed appreciation to me after you departed, or referenced things they’d learned from you in subsequent board discussions. The material you presented was a combination of “old treasures as well as new.” The overall framework in which you presented it was both powerful and memorable. In particular, I appreciated your emphasis on governance, board/management distinctions, CEO performance evaluations, long term strategic thinking, new board member orientation, and best practices.
In short, you’ve taken a good board and given it vision and a path to strive for greatness. Thanks!
